It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 39th ACM SIGPLAN International Conference on Systems, Programming, Languages, and Applications: Software for Humanity, being held in the vibrant city of Pasadena, California, from October 20th to October 25th, 2024. Nestled in beautiful southern California, Pasadena offers a unique blend of innovation, culture, and charm, providing the perfect backdrop for this year’s SPLASH conference.

SPLASH 2024 continues to be a premier forum for discussing all aspects of software development. This year’s program is as diverse and dynamic as ever, featuring the OOPSLA conference, Onward! Papers and Onward! Essays, SPLASH-E, and our popular student-focused events including the Doctoral Symposium, Student Research Competition, and Programming Language Mentoring Workshop. We are also excited to host a revival of REBASE, a day of talks and discussion to connect industry and academia. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with an exciting collection of co-hosted conferences, the Static Analysis Symposium (SAS), International Conference on Generative Programming: Concepts & Experiences (GPCE), and Software Language Engineering (SLE). SPLASH 2024 is also proud to host ten exciting workshops: HATRA, IWACO, JENSFEST, LIVE, NSAD, PAINT, ProLaLa, UNSOUND, VIVEKFEST, and VMIL.

At SPLASH 2024, we are committed to fostering inclusivity and accessibility for all participants. Through the efforts of our dedicated video chairs and student volunteers, there will be freely-available live streams of most SPLASH talks, and a platform for remote attendees to give talks and participate in Q&A as needed. Our community thrives on collaboration, and SPLASH 2024 is designed to foster that spirit across all its tracks and events.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our sponsors, whose generous support helps make SPLASH 2024 a success. Additionally, I want to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the entire organizing committee and the organizers of all co-located events, without whom this event would not be possible. I want to extend a special thanks to Alex Potanin and Bor-Yuh Evan Chang, the OOPSLA Review Committee Co-Chairs, for doing an outstanding job organizing OOPSLA and for providing invaluable advice on SPLASH organization. My thanks also go to Jan Vitek and the SPLASH Steering Committee for their generous help and advice, and to Neringa Young, the excellent SIGPLAN Conference Manager. Lastly, I would like to again thank our student volunteer chairs and the whole team of student volunteers for their critical support to ensure that SPLASH 2024 runs smoothly.

Finally, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to all our attendees. Whether you’re a first-time participant or a seasoned SPLASH veteran, I hope you will find this year’s conference as inspiring as ever. I look forward to seeing you at SPLASH 2024!
